Always freeze the pie on the day that you make it. Defrost in the fridge overnight, then cook as per the recipe. Alternatively, to cook from frozen, heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4, cover with foil and cook for 1½ hrs. Increase oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7, uncover and cook for 20 mins more, until golden and bubbling.

This usually makes three portions (enough for two adults and a baby), so we eat one and freeze the other two. When its time to eat the frozen shepherds/cottage pies, I defrost, take off foil from top and shove in the oven.

in fact - I never defrost frozen pies - I either 'cook' them or warm them up thoroughly from frozen (allow at least 45 mins in a medium oven and be prepared with some foil to stop the pastry getting too brown)! 0. This discussion has been closed. Latest News and Guides.

It really all depends on how big the portion sizes are, you should be fine cooking things like cottage pie from frozen, in the Oven at 200ºC it should take about 30-40 minutes to reheat in the oven, but you'd be better checking after about 20 minutes to see how it's doing, as for microwaving blast it for 7-8 minutes.
