Gratuities for the staff are not included in the rental rate and are much appreciated for a job well done. Tip Guideline: $10-$15 US/per day per adult in your group to be pooled and split evenly among the staff when you depart.

In a luxury villa rental in Mexico, you usually leave a tip at the end of your stay to all staff members (private chef, housekeeper, waiter & barman); depending on the quality of service, most villas are fully staffed, approximately 5-10% of the total rental amount.

Depending on the hotel class and quality of service received, you should tip the housekeeping staff from 20 to 50 pesos per night. If your room is particularly messy, tip more. It's best to tip on a daily basis and not on the last day of your stay, since it may not be the same person who cleans your room every day.

By all means ask the owner. The people I know who rent their villas in the Punta Mita area do so to cover the costs, which includes year round staff. If the staff have to do more when renters are there, they are compensated by the owner. They wouldn't think to ask guests to tip staff in addition unless for special requests.

It is customary to tip good service in most countries around the world, Mexico included. Besides being good karma, in some countries staff rely heavily on tips to supplement their wages making your voluntary contributions both a necessity as well as a good incentive to offer excellent service.Tipping is a great way of showing your appreciation. How much is a good tip?

Housecleaning: Tip 25 to 50 pesos per day for those who keep your temporary living space in order. Make sure to tip each day, as it may not be the same person on the final day of your stay.

And it will also depend on the amount of people staying in the villa that they are cleaning up after or even cooking for you. But, I would ask the owners of the villa if you can. I think pesos are always best when you have a choice, but then I only use pesos in PV anyway. And I would tip each staff member separately.

Happy employees are good for business, especially in a field so dependent on people skills and human interaction. Every tip is dearly appreciated, no matter the amount. The extra income received via generous tips is massively helpful to the staff, their families, the villa itself, and even the local economy.

We try and tip 15% depending on how large the bill was and the quality of service. We would always suggest tipping a minimum of 10% at restaurants in Mexico. Make sure to check the bill and see a service charge for gratuity was included, several higher-end restaurants will include this on the bill.

When you stay at a hotel in Mexico it’s customary in Mexico to leave a tip for your hotel room chambermaid, a sum between US$1 and US$5 (equivalent in Mexican pesos), for each night’s stay spent at the hotel. If you’re staying more than one night, it’s a good idea to leave the tip daily as chamber maids work on a rota.

If the service was good most people, at least in Mexico City, tend to give a 10% tip if the party was up to 5 persons. If the party was bigger, usually a 15% tip is given. Percentage is based on the total amount, including taxes (IVA).

Tipping Guide. This tipping guide is valid for all areas in and around Banderas Bay. Employees working in resort towns like Puerto Vallarta literally live on their tips. The minimum wage in Mexico is about $62 pesos per day. That’s equivalent to just over $3 USD per day. Yes. Not $3 per hour, but $3 per day.
